We are very excited to be hosting the ‘Churches Together’ Light Party on Wednesday 31st October between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. This is an opportunity to explore the idea that God is the LIght of the World and wants us to reflect His light. Paul urged the Philippians to carry the light-giving Message into the night‘ (Phil 2:15, The Message) and at a time when the world celebrates Halloween in ways that highlight darkness, we have all the more reason to reflect God’s light.

The family fun day will feature crafts, activities and games on the theme of light and we will also be exploring the idea that as God’s light shines through ordinary people, extraordinary things happen! We will be looking at heroes of faith – and to help us create a ‘heroes’ labyrinth’, we’d like YOU to send us details of YOUR heroes. They could be biblical heroes, heroes from history or heroes from the present day: people who inspire you to faith and who point you towards God. Please let us know who your heroes are, with a short summary of why you have chosen that person, and we will include these in our ‘walkway of faith’. You can give us your ideas by email (julie@gpcchurch.co.uk), via our Facebook page or by commenting here (as well as giving us this in person, of course!)

If you are able to help run any of the activities on the day itself, help with serving refreshments or just helping us by being there, that would be really good. This is an opportunity to reach out to our community with the truth that Jesus is the light of the world and that ‘the light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.’ (Jn 1:5)
