The Clue Is In The Name!

We are Goldthorpe Pentecostal Community Church, an independent Pentecostal church (registered charity number 1126102) situated in Goldthorpe, half-way between Barnsley and Doncaster in South Yorkshire. We are a group of local people working with God in the community and with God for the community. We are passionate about our local community, believing that God works in and through local people in a local setting, yet we are also part of the worldwide body of Christ. Come along to find out more and be assured of a warm welcome! If you want to know more, read the blog section of the website or click on ‘Sermons’ to listen to the sermons.

Meet the Outreach Teams

Preaching

As evangelical Christians, we believe in the authority of the Bible and know that God speaks through His Word to guide us and direct us in every aspect of our everyday lives. We seek to teach from the Bible at every opportunity, using a variety of methods and means. All our leaders are involved in preaching and we like to encourage others to develop in this ministry. God’s Word has the power to transform us and we believe God speaks through the Bible to enable us to become conformed to the image of Jesus Christ, His goal for every believer’s life. (Rom 8:28-29) You can listen to sermons preached at church from the ‘Sermons’ section of the website where these are listed in date order and under each preacher’s name (right hand side.) Written summaries of the sermons also feature in the church blog section of the website (‘What’s Happening Now’).

Music

Music is a powerful tool in worship and at GPCC we love to worship God through songs! We believe worship is our whole-hearted response to God’s extravagant love and mercy and that joyful worship is the freedom cry of a rescued soul. Garry Turner leads the music worship team; if you would like to know more about serving God in this way, please contact him. We are keen to welcome sound and lighting technicians to our team as well as musicians and singers, but most of all, we are looking for people who have a heart for worship and who love God with all that they are.

Youth

Children and young people are not just part of tomorrow’s church, but belong to God’s church right now! We run a Sunday School during the Sunday morning and evening meeting where children can learn more of God (see below) and on Monday evenings we run a youth club for children aged 5-11 years. Craft activities and games are available and there is also a tuck shop selling sweets and drinks at affordable prices. Thanks to a grant from Coalfields’ Regeneration Trust some years ago, we have a range of exciting activities on offer, including Wii games, table tennis and table football.

Parent n Toddlers

The Parent ‘n’ Toddler Group on Friday mornings has been running for many years now and is a great place for parents of pre-school children to come and chat whilst their children play. We have a good range of toys and play equipment and refreshments are served during this meeting. Come along and have a chat with other parents and give your toddler the opportunity to meet other children and learn social skills!

Food Distribution

We are privileged to be involved with local churches in serving the needy in our community through the Salvation Army food bank in Goldthorpe. We collect food, clothing and other items and pass these on to the Salvation Army, working closely with leaders there to help serve our local community in practical ways, showing God’s love not only with words and speech, but with actions and truth. (1 John 3:19).

Sunday School

During the Sunday morning and evening sermon, activities are run for children and young people to help them learn about God and grow in faith. Children’s songs feature in the evening service to encourage children to participate in worshipping God and the family service (held on the 1st Sunday evening of the month) features activities and games suitable for all-age worship.
