Mark Burgin spoke this morning on the ‘prayer bank.’ We are familiar with the idea of banks looking after our money until we need it and the supply-and-demand of a food bank, but we don’t often think of ‘banking’ prayers. The fact that we often pray for things and do not necessarily see quick answers does not mean that God does not hear us or that He does not answer. Eccl 3:1 reminds us that there is a time for everything and we need to bring our prayers fervently and persistently to God.
Phil 4:6-7 reminds us that anxiety can be turned into something positive through prayer. Supplication means intensity in prayer, an earnestness that indicates persistent. Sometimes we need others to pray for us as well (see James 5:13-16). Here, we see that persistent, fervent prayer is effective. God holds our prayers in His heart and will answer at the right time.
Eph 6:18 reminds us to pray in the Spirit always, being watchful for the answers. Don’t give up; keep praying!
