The second Summer Fun Day organised by Dearne Churches Together was even busier than the first, with 154 people attending in total (81 adults, 73 children.) It was good to have the Salvation Army Emergency Response Vehicle there providing drinks for us all and to have members of the Dearne Family Hubs and 0-19 Team supporting local families. We are very grateful to the 21 helpers who did so much and to Nikki Hickling from JJ’s Chippy who fed us all magnificently.
There were a variety of activities and crafts to do today, including:

a word trail (where we discovered that faith and action must work together – our actions must reflect our beliefs)

painting rocks with positive action messages
-
‘helping hands’ when people considered what actions they could do to help others

making art from hammering flowers (vigorous action needed there!)

playing Snakes & Ladders and considering how our actions have consequences
-
decorating cookies with positive messages
-
making a ‘Faith Compass’ where we looked at God’s word guiding our actions
-
origami (when we looked at following instructions… and discovered some instructions are harder to follow than others!)
