Today we continued looking at the book of Isaiah, and Garry called today’s study ‘Rotten Religion!‘ Isaiah spoke as God’s prophet to Israel, God’s chosen people, but at this stage in their history, God described them as having rebelled, not knowing or understanding God and behaving faithlessly, as a prostitute.

It matters that our faith has historical roots, but we need an up-to-date experience of God that grows as we do. A faithful Christian life is not only about what we say we believe. It is also about how we live, how we suffer, how we love others and how we entrust ourselves to God when our earthly life draws to a close. We need to pass on the truth and our experience of it – we do this by living it in the now, because it is a living faith.
When we have a personal experience of the Lord and relationship with Him, our life is a journey (and one that is not just to be endured, but enjoyed.) We share life together as God’s people, and as we do this, our life is more than empty religion, but a dynamic and vibrant life that reproduces faith and encourages faith in others
